When we disassemble an old engine, we will notice that the crankshaft will have various marks that indicate wear, where the oil seals work we might have an actual groove due to friction (yes, even rubber leaves marks from constant rubbing), the bearing might fit loosely in its seat, the connecting rod might make a strange noise when rotated (a sign of wear), it will be time to replace the crankshaft as reassembling it could cause pressure seal issues, noise while driving.
