In the early 1950s, all Vespa models were equipped with high-tension internal coils, but they were soon abandoned because the intense heat would short the coils and the Vespa wouldn't restart until the temperature dropped; subsequently, various types were introduced with Bakelite casing, enhanced for GS models, until the 1980s with the advent of electronic units and the abandonment of points/contacts. It is a very important component, so choose a good quality coil to avoid being stranded! Ducati, Ceab, Piaggio, Bosatta are all brands of quality and maximum performance.
