In the early 1950s, all Vespa models were equipped with internal high-voltage coils, but they were soon abandoned because the intense heat caused the coils to short circuit, and the Vespa wouldn't restart until the temperature dropped. Subsequently, various types were introduced with Bakelite casings, enhanced for GS models, until the 1980s with the advent of electronic control units and the abandonment of points/contacts. It is a very important component, so choose a good quality coil to avoid being stranded! Ducati, Ceab, Piaggio, Bosatta are all quality brands with maximum performance.
