In the early 1950s, all Vespa models were equipped with internal high-voltage coils, but they were soon abandoned because the intense heat would short-circuit the coils, and the Vespa would not restart until the temperature dropped; subsequently, various types with Bakelite casing were introduced, enhanced for GS models, until the 1980s with the advent of electronic ignition systems and the abandonment of points/contacts. It is a very important component, so choose a good quality coil to avoid being stranded! Ducati, Ceab, Piaggio, Bosatta are all quality brands with maximum performance.
